Steam Turbines
Steam turbines convert heat energy into rotational energy as the blades are driven by the high-temperature, high-pressure steam generated by the high-capacity power plant boilers. They can be classified as high-, medium- and low-pressure models.
Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction entered the steam turbine business in 1978, starting with a 200MW model for the Seocheon Power Plant. Currently, we are capable of designing and manufacturing steam turbines with the specific capacities required for any thermal or nuclear power plant.
Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction applies an online quality control system for every process in the fabrication of steam turbines, from materials procurement to finished product. The know-how we have acquired in the fabrication and installation of steam turbines to date is applied to design models with ever-higher reliability.
What is a steam turbine?
It is a device that converts the thermal and hydraulic energy to kinetic energy (mechanical rotation) and turning force (torque).
Gas Turbines
Pressurized air from the compressor is mixed with fuel, ignited and burned to generate the high temperature gas which rotates the turbine. It is the key equipment in combined cycle/ cogeneration power plants. With the recent interest in environmental preservation and power generation load issues, the demand for gas turbines with high performance, reliability, fuel diversity and toxic emissions reduction has been increasing.
Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction is manufacturing and supplying various G Class and F/D Class gas turbines with thorough quality assurance and high technology utilizing its ongoing gas turbine technical alliances.
Hydro Turbines
Hydropower is an environmentally friendly and unlimited energy source. During the natural cycle of water, water is evaporated by the sun and returns to the ground as rain or snow.
Hydro plants use this energy source to convert the potential energy (water head) resulting from a the difference of height to the mechanical energy (via turbine or runner) so that the generator connected to the runner can produce the electricity.
