The Quad Drill+ SPLT14 insert used in drills from 1.719” to 2.00” has changed. The 0.8 mm (.0314”) corner radius on the current SPLT140508N-PH insert has changed to 1.2 mm (.0472”) corner radius, insert SPLT140512N-PH.
The 1.2 mm (.0472”) radius in Lab testing has shown 30%-50% greater tool life over the smaller 0.8mm radius.
When using the larger radius, the drill diameter will be reduced by .0019” on diameter. That is well within the tolerance ban when running indexable drills.
