Defining the acoustic properties of porous noise control treatments is a critical part of the acoustical control treatments is a critical part of the acoustical design process in AutoSEA2 and RAYON software. FOAM-X calculates the required AutoSEA2 foam and fiber material properties from standard tests.
Foam-X uses an inverse algorithm that works with acoustic data output from ASTM E1050 impedance tube tests to identify porous material properties. It calculates the "geometric parameters" viscous and thermal characteristic length and tortuosity. It can also calculate flow resistivity and porosity.
