HRSG (Heat Recovery Steam Generator) is very efficient because it recycles water heat.
As the hot exhaust gas from the gas turbine contains high energy, it is a loss if it is discharged into the atmosphere. As such, the exhaust gas is recycled by the HRSG to generate the steam which operates the steam turbine to produce electricity.
Moreover, the steam generated by HRSG can be used for local district heating to maximize energy efficiency.
